Are You Getting Paid What You Are Worth?
Enforce Your Rights!
New Jersey's Wage and Hour law is very basic: it says that every worker is entitled to be paid at least the minimum wage. For every hour of overtime you work, you are entitled to time and a half.
If you are being paid less than this, you are being taken advantage of.

Overtime pay adds up quickly
If you have not been paid time and a half for working overtime, do you know how much you are owed? Here's how to find out:
- Take the number of hours you work each week, and subtract 40.
- Multiply that number by half of your hourly wage - that's how much you lose every week!
- Multiply that by the number of weeks you've worked unpaid overtime
One client came to the Law Offices of Jamison M. Mark with a pay dispute: he had been working 70 hour weeks for months - without getting time and a half. Making $10 an hour, he was losing $150 a week in unpaid wages.
What is the "prevailing wage?"
If you work on a public project, you are entitled to make the "prevailing wage." The prevailing wage is set by the state. Any contractor who takes on a public project is required by law to pay his or her employees the prevailing wage.
Wage and hour law is there to protect you, the worker. Use it to your advantage. To talk with attorney Jamison M. Mark about wage and hour law, call 201-787-9406, 908-626-1001 or toll free 888-734-8287, or contact the firm online.
